Nominations

Designation represents official recognition of historic, architectural, and/or archaeological significance. History Matters staff are intimately familiar with both the paperwork requirements and the nomination process for listing a resource as a local landmark or on the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties or the National Register of Historic Places. History Matters prepares nominations with thorough, easy-to-read narratives which tell the story of the building or site, explain why eligible resources are important, and present compelling justification for physical integrity.

History Matters welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively with the client through the entire nomination process, from initial research to final designation. Completed nominations can be useful for a number of follow-on preservation activities, including grant applications, site interpretation, and heritage tourism initiatives

History Matters knows significance and integrity represent the basis for all eligibility and historic designation. Choose History Matters for:

  • Our understanding of the designation process
  • Our prior experience working directly with staff in the Colorado National and State Register program
  • Our consultative approach which focuses equally on our clients and the historic resource
